A few weeks ago, I got around to Julius Meinl for their hot chocolate. For those of you who haven’t had the pleasure of going to Julius Meinl, go there as soon as you can. It’s a Viennese cafe that’s simply the bees knees. They have incredible sandwiches, salads and pastries. And they have magical drinks; their chai latte is lovely.
So based on the list from DEcember 2012, I tried their hot chocolate. It’s pretty good. It’s not the weak stuff you find at Starbucks, Hershey’s or similar establishments and it’s not foul tasting like Lavazza, Bar Toma, or Sarah B’s pastry. It’s a pretty good. It’s not the best or great in Chicago. But it works with their food and pastries, and there is the added bonus of a little cookie (served with all of their hot drinks). I’d order it again.
However, if they have their red velvet latte on their special’s menu, that is brilliant. It’s red velvet flavored and it’s done extremely well. It’s probably the best latte I’ve ever had. I don’t know how regular it is on their menus (I had it in February or so) but it’s really good.
